The direct shuttle: airport to Mondello in 40 minutes
In 2026 Prestia e Comandè runs a direct line from 15 June to 31 October, every day including public holidays. The ride takes 40 minutes and costs €6 (€10 return, €4 for children aged 3 to 12, free under 3). You pay on board in cash or by card; booking ahead is recommended.
- Airport to Mondello: 8:00, 9:00, 11:00, 13:00, 15:00, 17:00, 19:00, 21:30.
- Mondello to the airport: 4:00, 5:45, 7:45, 9:45, 11:45, 13:45, 15:45, 17:45, 19:00.
- Stops in Mondello: Parcheggio Galatea (terminus), Viale Venere, Via Margherita di Savoia and Via Principe di Scalea, in the village.
The 4:00 departure is the one you want for a dawn flight home.
By bus all year: airport bus and city bus 806
Outside the shuttle season, or if its times don't suit your flight, the trip is in two legs:
- Airport to Politeama with the Prestia e Comandè airport bus: departures every 30 minutes from 5:05 to 1:05 at night, about 40 minutes to Piazza Politeama, €6 (€6.50 if bought on board).
- Politeama to Mondello with AMAT city bus 806: about 25 minutes, €1.40 ticket valid for 90 minutes (€1.80 on board). It runs much more often in summer than in winter.
It's cheap, but with suitcases and a change in the city centre it takes more than an hour.
Taxi, transfer or hire car
- Taxi: the easiest option with luggage, children or a late flight. Palermo has fixed airport fares for the city centre, but there is no published fixed fare for Mondello, so the ride goes on the meter: ask the price before you get in.
- Hire car: the best choice if you plan to explore western Sicily. You pick it up at the airport and join the A29 motorway straight away. In Mondello, residential streets behind the beach have free parking.
